Why More Dog Owners Are Choosing Raw

Raw feeding has become increasingly popular over the last few years, and it's easy to see why.

Many owners tell us they've noticed improvements in their dog's coat, digestion, energy levels and enjoyment at mealtimes after making the switch.

Raw feeding gives you greater control over exactly what goes into your dog's bowl. With simple ingredients and plenty of choice, it's a feeding method that works for many dogs and their owners.

At Smith's Pets, we know starting can feel a little overwhelming. That's why we're here to help with practical advice, quality products and honest guidance every step of the way.

Getting started with Raw Feeding.

Switching to raw doesn’t have to be complicated! Every dog is different, so choose the method that works best for your pup:

 1. Slow & Gradual Transition – Replace 25% of your dog’s usual food with raw, increasing by another 25% each day until they’re fully switched. This method is great for dogs with sensitive stomachs or cautious eaters.

 2. Full Switch Overnight – Feed their last non-raw meal in the evening, then start fresh with one protein source the next day (such as chicken or turkey). This works well for dogs who adapt easily to dietary changes.

You know your dog best! Keep a close eye on their digestion and energy levels, adjusting as needed.

Why Choose Raw & Natural?

Dogs are carnivores by nature, designed to thrive on fresh, raw food and nutrient-rich natural ingredients. Processed kibble and artificial additives can lead to digestive issues, allergies, and long-term health problems.

Benefits of a Raw & Natural Diet:

Better Digestion – No fillers, artificial additives, or grains that cause bloating.
Healthier Skin & Coat – Natural oils and proteins for a soft, shiny coat.
Stronger Teeth & Gums – Chewing raw bones and natural treats helps remove plaque.
More Energy & Vitality – High-quality proteins fuel natural activity.
Stronger Immune System – Fresh, natural ingredients provide essential nutrients.
Fewer Allergies & Sensitivities – No artificial preservatives, just real food.
